FOR THE SAKE OF THE GOSPEL

In 1 Corinthians 9, Paul the Apostle explained his reasoning for submitting himself to a hard life. He had relinquished his right to marriage (vs. 5) and had relied on churches to support him financially (6-12). He even adapted his approach in order to reach as many people as possible (19-22). But what would lead Paul to take such sacrificial and often controversial steps?
